celticmink@yahoo.comIt's pretty hard to do a life in 25 words or more.
These days I'm home on disability. My primary ailments are fibromyalgia, chronic muscle pain. I live with very little in the way of pain meds. No point in treating something that doesnt' respond to the meds I have.
I do a bit of volunteer work for Heart of Ohio Ferret Association and Rescue and Ohio Wildlife Education Center. I do the occassional consultation and tax return.
My son is raised. He is married and has a daughter of his own. I'm Grandma and Dan's Grandpa. We see her about every 2 mos right now.
When I worked I was an accountant. I started out in accounting when people either used paper and pencil or a dumb terminal to access a main frame. Personal computers came available around 1982 for biz purposes. I've gone from paper, to computers and through most of the incarnations that have been available since CPM to Windows Vista. I remember WordStar, early spread sheets, accounting software. I've learned, unlearned and re-learned all kinds of software.
I love my critters and my house is full of them. I have a dog. Everybody has a dog or a cat. Dan is allergic to cats so that's a no no. I have ferrets, hand raised farm mink. We had a skunk briefly that belonged to a roommate.
I've been a sci fi fan all my life. I started reading adult novels at age 8 yrs. I loved Science Fiction Mystery Theater (not to be confused with Science Fiction Mystery Theater 3000). I got my first start in fandom at Midwestcon around 73. I re-entered fandom in 86 with Marcon. I've made a lot of friends and suffered more than a few disappointments. We get out to 4 to 6 cons a year.
Dan and I are into our Irish heritage. We read the occassional book here and there. We attend the Dublin Irish Festival. Through a vendor there I was able to get a set of celtic knotwork dishes. I use them as my good dishes.
I love music and can't sing worth a damn. I enjoy filks and concerts. We follow a few rock bands, Irish or Celtic bands and the occassional classical fix.
